Cement Consultancy
Let us work with your drilling engineering team and cement service provider to ensure your cement work is meeting your needs. Chris and Jess will work with your drilling team from the planning phase, through execution, and evaluation of the job to make sure the cement job objectives are met.
Examples of some typical scopes of work are shown below:
Engineering:
• Ensure that all cement jobs are planned appropriately to isolate target formations and meet any additional job objectives.
• Where current plans are not sufficient to meet these goals, work with service company and operator to adjust job designs where possible.
• Use 3rd party cementing software, as needed, to verify placement simulations and conditions.
• Review and/or witness pre-job laboratory testing for all jobs and adjust as required.
• Work with service company to determine any limitations of the rig and cement unit.
• Work with rig-based operator personnel to ensure all appropriate preparations are made on-site.
• Remotely monitor all cement jobs & provide post-job pressure matching.
• Deliver final post-job report, capturing job performance and lessons learned.
Cement/Blend Load Out Audit:
• Provide third party inspection and auditing of cement blending and blend QC operations.
• Ensure all blends are conducted following industry best practices and all QC results are within target ranges prior to releasing blends from the bulk plant.
• Manage and track lot and grind numbers and actual weights to provide final blended cement system that is within specifications.
Chemical Load Out Audit:
• Inspect all totes for contaminants prior to loading.
• Ensure all chemicals are loaded in a manner consistent with industry best practices.
• Manage and track lot numbers, expiration dates, and actual weights of all totes.
Laboratory Test Witnessing / Audit:
• Review all planned testing conditions for accuracy and consistency with pre-job simulations.
• Verify correct cement and chemical samples are planned for use.
• Check calibration of all equipment.
• Witness testing process from weightouts through to loading machines and performing tests and verify API required and industry-best practices are being followed.
• Work with service company engineering and laboratory teams, as needed, to adjust slurry properties.
On-site Job Audit
• Ensure pre-job preparations on rig are consistent with the cement program, including but not limited to:
o Verify cement unit has recently been tested has no critical deficiencies.
o Check that correct totes connected to additive delivery system.
o Ensure spacer is mixed as designed and QCed.
o Ensure all contingency planning is understood and appropriate plans are in place in case of failures.
• Monitor rates, densities, pressures, and additive concentrations throughout the job. Suggest on-the-fly adjustments, as needed, to achieve job objectives.
